In the mood to traipse through a Tunnel of Doom or crawl through a Cave of Ghouls?
It's the last weekend for the 19th annual Haunted Hike at Camp Big Timber.
The hike, presented by the Three Fires Council, Boy Scouts of America, combines 10 scenes to create a ¾-mile-long walking trail through the camp at 37W955 Big Timber Road, Elgin.
Each scene along the Haunted Hike is set up and run by a different scouting or exploring group affiliated with the Three Fires Council, scouts marketing and communications director Nancy Loftus said.
"They start meeting on this back in March and they meet every month. By August, it starts to turn into an every-other-week meeting," Loftus said of the work the scouts put in to the seasonal scare affair.
Last weekend, about 1,300 visitors traveled through the Haunted Hike. This weekend, Loftus and the Three Fires Council hope to see even more boils and ghouls out with their families.
The council will offer a special Kiddie Hike from 1:30 to 4 p.m. today, featuring face painting and games.
"Obviously it won't be as scary," Loftus assures, adding that those who join the Kiddie Hike will enjoy trick-or-treat candy at each scene along the way.
The price for the Kiddie Hike is $6 per person.
From 7 to 11 p.m. today, Camp Big Timber will be back at full scare, and Saturday the Haunted Hike will run from 6:30 to 11 p.m.
General admission for the regular Haunted Hike is $10 and scouts in uniform receive a $3 discount.
