Bartlett cops: Man faked theft of his Corvette
A Bartlett man is accused of faking the theft of his Corvette and then torching the car to collect insurance on it, Bartlett police said Tuesday.
Sean M. Moore, 23, of 110 S. Elroy Ave., has been charged with one felony count each of insurance fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud.
Police Report: Man charged in South Elgin robbery
Jordan Christensen, 21, of 1720 River Road, South Elgin, was arrested
Monday on multiple felony charges after he allegedly robbed a girl he
knew at knifepoint, South Elgin police said.

cannabis after police said they found a glass smoking pipe and
approximately 2.4 grams marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop
along the Chicago Street bridge Tuesday evening.

Local lawyer bilked clients, authorities say
Local lawyer William C. Chesbrough has been charged with bilking two area residents out of $140,000. Elgin police Wednesday arrested Chesbrough, 58, of 1401 Grande Point Blvd., West Dundee, on two counts of felony theft and one count of felony financial exploitation of an elderly person, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office. He was released after posting $3,000 bond on his $30,000 bail.

Murder sends ‘shiver down the state’s spine’
The death of an Elgin teenager, who police say was murdered by a Streamwood woman who used her car to run down and kill the Elgin youth "sends a shiver down the state's spine," a prosecutor said. In the meantime, religious leaders are planning an anti-violence rally and vigil for the victim at the apartment complex where he lost his life.
Police Report: Sycamore duplex burns
Sycamore's fire and police departments were trying to figure out what
started a fire that destroyed a duplex home at 1623 Maness Court

Driver charged with murder in teen's death Update: A Streamwood woman intentionally rammed her car into an Elgin teen, crushing him against a building on the city's east side, authorities said Tuesday in announcing she has been charged with his murder. Timera D. Branch, 33, was charged Tuesday with two counts of first-degree murder in the death Sunday of John W. Keyes, 17, of Elgin.

Two Lake in the Hills residents have been indicted on federal
charges that they and others tied to a suburban car dealership were
involved in an elaborate scheme to transfer titles to more than 100
vehicles on false representations, causing a loss of almost $2.8

Bail will remain at $100,000 for a Carpentersville babysitter charged in connection with the death of an 8-month-old boy left under a blanket for several hours.

A 44-year-old Carpentersville woman has been charged in connection with the death of an 8-month-old infant boy in April who died of hypothermia when she allegedly left him unattended.
Elgin man convicted of assaulting boys
A 32-year-old Elgin man was convicted Monday of the sexual assault of two young boys. Michael J. Jackson of the 400 block of Addison Street was convicted by Circuit Judge Timothy Sheldon of two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault stemming from contact Jackson had with the victims, whom he knew, from June 2004 to December 2006.

DeKalb County Sheriff's Police said they have broken up what Sheriff Roger Scott describes as "a major identity-theft ring" that stole between $50,000 and $100,000 from the bank accounts of a dozen county residents, and may have stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars from victims throughout the state.
Elgin man convicted for robbing pizza delivery man
A northwest suburban man faces up to 60 years in prison after being convicted of beating and robbing a pizza delivery man in 2008, a crime which netted him $20. John H. Darrington, 25, of Elgin was found guilty of one count of robbery Friday.

East Dundee Teen sentenced for arson in Elgin
The last of three teens charged with setting a fire that badly damaged a west side Elgin residence in March has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Salvatore Riso, 18, East Dundee, pled guilty Thursday to one felony count of residential arson.

Sexual assault suspect sought by Elgin police
Police have asked the for the public's help in finding a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman last week on the city's west side. Police said the incident occurred in the 1600 block of Larkin Avenue around 3 a.m. Friday. A man reportedly armed with a sharp instrument approached the victim from behind and forced her into his vehicle before driving a short distance where the sexual assault took place.
