No bond reduction for babysitter charged in death
Bail will remain at $100,000 for a Carpentersville babysitter charged in connection with the death of an 8-month-old boy left under a blanket for several hours.
Kane County Circuit Court Associate Judge T. Jordan Gallagher Thursday denied a request to have the bail of Deanna L. Williams, 44, of the 3800 block of Parsons Road, reduced to $25,000.

A 44-year-old Carpentersville woman has been charged in connection with the death of an 8-month-old infant boy in April who died of hypothermia when she allegedly left him unattended.
Elgin man convicted of assaulting boys
A 32-year-old Elgin man was convicted Monday of the sexual assault of two young boys. Michael J. Jackson of the 400 block of Addison Street was convicted by Circuit Judge Timothy Sheldon of two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault stemming from contact Jackson had with the victims, whom he knew, from June 2004 to December 2006.

ID thefts targeted DeKalb County banks
DeKalb County Sheriff's Police said they have broken up what Sheriff Roger Scott describes as "a major identity-theft ring" that stole between $50,000 and $100,000 from the bank accounts of a dozen county residents, and may have stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars from victims throughout the state.
Elgin man convicted for robbing pizza delivery man
A northwest suburban man faces up to 60 years in prison after being convicted of beating and robbing a pizza delivery man in 2008, a crime which netted him $20. John H. Darrington, 25, of Elgin was found guilty of one count of robbery Friday.

Tim Bosshart after Carpentersville police arrested three men Wednesday for allegedly hauling a man out of his car and into the garage of a house at 2114 Tepee Ave. to rob him. One of the alleged robbers lives in that house.
East Dundee Teen sentenced for arson in Elgin
The last of three teens charged with setting a fire that badly damaged a west side Elgin residence in March has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Salvatore Riso, 18, East Dundee, pled guilty Thursday to one felony count of residential arson.

Sexual assault suspect sought by Elgin police
Police have asked the for the public's help in finding a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman last week on the city's west side. Police said the incident occurred in the 1600 block of Larkin Avenue around 3 a.m. Friday. A man reportedly armed with a sharp instrument approached the victim from behind and forced her into his vehicle before driving a short distance where the sexual assault took place.

First Amendment rights or "tastes great, less filling," were just two of them. The protestors weren't quite sure which cause they were backing but that didn't stop them from clashing with officers in riot gear.

A rainy, dark sky enveloped the area Thursday morning as more than two dozen Waste Management truck drivers sat in classroom-like desks at their office on the city's far southeast side, learning about another way to help clean up the streets. It was 6:30 a.m., and the day already had gotten off to a late start for most of the drivers. Cops: Teens pull inside job at doughnut shop
There apparently were just too many holes in the story of a Gilberts teen-ager who reported being robbed at the downtown doughnut shop where he worked. In fact, police say, it was the teen who was more interested in stealing the dough than making it.
