A jury needed less than an hour Tuesday to find an Aurora man guilty of the brutal beating of his girlfriend in 2007, and he now faces up to seven years in prison.

Frederick Hampton, 42, of the 100 block of West Galena Boulevard in Aurora, was convicted by a Kane County jury of one count of aggravated domestic battery, a Class 2 felony, and two counts of domestic battery, each a Class A misdemeanor, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's office.

The jury deliberated for about 40 minutes before it finding the former Montgomery resident guilty, according to a release from the state's attorney's office. Associate Judge Patricia Golden set sentencing for Dec. 10, when Hampton faces up to seven years in prison.

On Feb. 22, 2007, in Aurora, Hampton pushed the victim against a wall, causing her to fall to the floor. While she was on the floor, he kicked her in the sides and head, causing a lacerated liver, black eye and bruises to her face and body, the release said.

Hampton had been free on a signature bond, which was revoked upon conviction.

In an unrelated domestic violence incident with a separate victim, Hampton faces one count each of aggravated domestic battery and unlawful restraint, two counts of domestic battery and one count of interfering with the reporting of a domestic battery, the release said.

His next court appearance on those charges is Nov. 18 before Associate Judge Robert Morrow. Hampton also faces unrelated drug charges.
